Holiday COVID-19 Testing
Glendale Unified continues to provide free, rapid COVID-19 testing for all students and employees. We encourage everyone to take a test if you have COVID-19 symptoms, are exposed to anyone with COVID-19, or if you travel or attend large gatherings this holiday season.

Holiday Testing Schedule
  • At-home, rapid COVID-19 test kits are available at every school site and the district office. Don't forget to pick up a test kit if you need one for the holiday break!
  • All Glendale Unified in-person testing sites will be closed from December 23 - January 2.
  • Following winter break, we will offer in-person rapid COVID-19 testing at two district locations - Crescenta Valley High School and the district office.
  • The district office testing site will reopen on Tuesday, January 3.
  • The Crescenta Valley High School testing site will reopen on Monday, January 9.
Thank you for your support in helping our Glendale Unified community stay healthy this holiday season!

Update on Negotiations with Glendale Teachers Association
Today, members of the Glendale Unified and GTA bargaining teams met in-person with a mediator from the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), the first step in the impasse process. No proposals were exchanged at this mediation session. Each bargaining team spent the day introducing their proposals and sharing information with the mediator separately in preparation for future sessions. A second mediation date will be tentatively scheduled for mid-January.

During the past year of negotiations, Glendale Unified has negotiated in good faith the issues raised by GTA leadership and agreed to many of their requests. Glendale Unified offered a wage proposal that includes three separate compensation increases for GTA members and revised contract language that improves safety and ensures equitable access to educational opportunities for every student. You can find specific details about Glendale Unified’s wage and contract proposals here.

As Glendale Unified strongly believes there is a good faith contract offer on the table, we look forward to the transparent review of the outstanding items by the mediator and are hopeful that this process will bring this nearly year-long negotiation to a swift close.

CalFresh Share Tables
We are excited to share the latest CalFresh Healthy Living video featuring Hoover High School drama students walking us through the Share Table experience. A Share Table allows students to give away their unwanted, unopened, and uneaten food items, so that other students can select those items at no cost during breakfast and lunch. Anything that's left over will be donated to local non-profit partners. The goal is to reduce food waste and increase access to nutritious foods. This video will be shared with school sites to coincide with the launch of more Share Tables this school year. Let the sharing begin!
