Cybersecurity Incident Information

Last updated Friday, January 5, at 4:00 p.m.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate the ransomware incident that occurred in December. GUSD information technology leaders and cybersecurity experts have been working throughout the winter break to restore services by the time school resumes on Monday.

Here is an update on what services have been restored:

  • GUSD Google accounts
  • Internet access and cloud-based applications for students and staff
  • Use of Chromebooks and district-issued laptops
  • Q Student Information System (from within the GUSD network only)
  • Access to Clever and most third-party Clever applications
  • ParentSquare and StudentSquare communication systems
  • Q ParentConnection and Q StudentConnection (from within the GUSD network only)

Important information for the week of January 8, when students return from winter break:

On December 15, a Google password reset was initiated for all students and employees.

  • Students in grades 4-12+ who have not yet reset their passwords will be prompted to do so during their next Google login.
  • Students in grades TK-3 will receive updated Clever badges upon returning from break. Badges will be provided to elementary schools by January 8 to be distributed to students in their classrooms.

Access to Q is not available outside the GUSD network. This includes access to Q ParentConnection and Q StudentConnection. We are working toward having these restored as quickly as possible.
