Financial Aid 101 Webinar TONIGHT at 6:00 p.m.!
Join Glendale Unified College and Career Division and Glendale Community College tonight at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom to learn more about how you can pay for college! Representatives will share information about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act.

Tune in to learn more about why families of 12th graders need to complete the FAFSA and how it can benefit you (even if you think you won't qualify). FAFSA or California Dream Act applications must be completed for all students who plan to attend any college, university, or trade school after graduation. In addition to allowing students to be considered for federal and state grants, scholarships and loans, these applications allow the college a student attends to consider them for their own scholarships, grants and work study programs.

Update on Negotiations with Glendale Teachers Association
Over the past year, members of the Glendale Unified and Glendale Teachers Association (GTA) bargaining teams have been meeting to negotiate wages and the terms of a new contract. On November 10, after 13 bargaining sessions, GTA leadership informed their members and Glendale Unified that they declared an impasse in the negotiations. “Impasse” is a mechanism in the negotiations process by which a state-appointed mediator becomes involved in helping all parties reach an agreement.

As a next step, Glendale Unified and GTA bargaining teams will meet in-person with a mediator assigned by the Public Employment Relations Board to assist in the mediation process. This meeting is expected to occur in mid-December. As Glendale Unified strongly believes there is a good faith contract offer on the table, we look forward to the transparent review of the outstanding items by a mediator and are hopeful that this process will bring this nearly year-long negotiation to a swift close.

Over the past 13 bargaining sessions, Glendale Unified has negotiated in good faith the issues raised by GTA leadership and agreed to many of their requests. Regarding wages, Glendale Unified offered a wage proposal that includes three separate compensation increases for GTA members: a 4.5% one-time compensation increase for the 2020-21 school year, a 3.5% ongoing raise retroactive to the 2021-22 school year, and a 5% ongoing raise in the current 2022-23 school year. You can find specific details about Glendale Unified's wage and contract proposals here.

The district remains committed to continuing to work in good faith throughout the next steps of this process.
