Western Armenian

Beginning in the 2027–2028 school year, students in the Western Armenian Dual Language Immersion Program will spend 50% of their day learning in Western Armenian and 50% learning in English. Students will learn to speak, read, and write in Western Armenian through content, rather than as a separate course of study. Applications open on November 1, 2026. 

Western Armenian Dual Language Immersion will be offered at Glenoaks Elementary School for kindergarten students beginning in the 2027–2028 school year.

The Western Armenian Dual Language Immersion Advisory Committee brings together individuals with diverse expertise, experiences and perspectives to help inform the thoughtful development of Glendale Unified’s Western Armenian DLI program.

The committee provides input to support planning for the program, which will welcome its first kindergarten students at Glenoaks Elementary School in the 2027–2028 school year.

Public Participation

Committee meetings are open to the public and conducted in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act. Community members are welcome to attend and provide public comment on agenda items and other matters within the committee’s subject matter jurisdiction. Public comment procedures are provided on each meeting agenda.
