Information Regarding Arrest Made on CV High School Campus

Dear GUSD Families,
Today, the Crescenta Valley Sheriffs arrested a contracted agency staff member on the Crescenta Valley campus following a report that the individual engaged in inappropriate messaging with a student. The individual was arrested on suspicion of child annoyance under California Penal Code section 647.6. The individual has been removed from his assignment and will no longer be permitted to work at any GUSD school. This was the individual’s first assignment with our District; he had not previously been assigned to any other GUSD school.
Student safety is our top priority. We commend the student for coming forward to report the behavior. Upon receiving the report, staff immediately took steps to protect the student and contacted law enforcement.
We thank the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station for its quick response. Crescenta Valley Sheriff Station is leading the investigation and will release information as necessary moving forward. Glendale Unified will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and share District updates as appropriate while protecting student privacy.
Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station Detective Ponce at 818-236-4014. Students are always encouraged to “say something” if they “see something.” Reports can be made directly to your school office, submitted online through our tip line, or by calling the District’s phone tip line at (323) 999-6062. The tip line is monitored seven days a week. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
Please know that student safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we remain committed to taking immediate action and responding promptly when concerns arise.
Sincerely,
Dr. Darneika Watson
GUSD Superintendent of Schools
