Glendale Unified and CSEA Reach Agreement on Wages for the 2026-2027 School Year
GLENDALE, CA, April 29, 2026 — Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) has reached a tentative agreement on wages with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) for the 2026–27 school year, marking the second consecutive year the District has successfully concluded negotiations ahead of the start of the school year.
The agreement includes a 2.12% ongoing salary increase for all CSEA-represented employees. In addition, employees will receive a one-time payment of approximately $775, reflecting a collectively agreed-upon distribution of funds to provide equitable benefit across all bargaining unit members.
The District and CSEA also reached a tentative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a clear framework to support employees impacted by immigration-related matters. The MOU outlines provisions for leave, communication, and job reinstatement, helping ensure continuity of employment while maintaining compliance with legal and operational requirements.
The MOU is in effect through June 30, 2028, and allows for reassessment as needed based on future legal or labor developments.
“This agreement reflects the steady, thoughtful work that happens when both teams remain focused on what matters most–supporting our valued employees and maintaining the stability of our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Darneika Watson. “Our classified staff are essential to the daily work of our District and this agreement recognizes their significant contributions, while also providing important job continuity support should they ever need it.”
“Reaching this agreement reflects the focused, respectful approach we value in our work with labor partners when we’re both centered on what’s best for our school community,” said Board of Education President Ingrid Gunnell. “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank both teams for the thoughtful work that led to this compensation increase, as well as the critical support for employees navigating immigration-related matters. Strong agreements like this help ensure our employees can continue doing their best work in support of our students, while also providing stability and support when they need to navigate challenging circumstances.”
The tentative agreement will move forward for ratification by CSEA membership, followed by approval by the GUSD Board of Education, anticipated in June.
