On Monday, August 30, Glendale Unified school and district leaders met with members of the Glendale Teachers Association (GTA) bargaining team. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a proposed memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to the effects of returning to full in-person instruction while mitigating the impacts of COVID-19 during the 2021-22 school year.
Glendale Unified students returned to in-person learning on August 18. An independent study option is available for students and families who need it. The District offered the opportunity to negotiate independent study based on a demand to bargain initially issued by GTA on August 9. GTA requested to discuss independent study at a later date.

Glendale Unified is committed to providing a safe learning and working environment for all students and employees. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the District has implemented multiple layers of mitigation to protect against the spread of COVID-19. The District’s health and safety measures are continuously updated based on guidelines from the California and Los Angeles County Public Health Departments.
