Monty's Book Talk 3-30-2020

Hello quarantined, learning-from-home readers!  We hope you are alive and well and getting the hang of distance learning!

Here are some fun links to literary finds we've enjoyed and want to share!

-- One of Monte Vista's most favorite authors -- Mac Barnett -- is reading aloud his book, Mac Undercover, in nightly chapter installments.  Super fun to read along!  Follow him on instagram to participate:  macbarnett    He's visited MV three times in recent years -- the kids will know and remember him!  And, this book is the most requested, longest waitlist at school this year.

--  Want to know what upper-grade kids are reading and loving??  Here's an energetic book into by enthusiastic Michigan teacher Colby Stamp.  He's got stacks of books to tell you about...what 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students are reading now.  What are YOU reading?

-- It's the final days of March, Dr. Seuss' birthday month.  Did you know he won an Oscar?  We read aloud his book, Gerald McBoing-Boing, but didn't get time to watch Dr. Seuss' Academy Award Winning Best Animated Short (1950).  Here's your chance!

--  Kids can draw along with Mo Willems' Daily Lunch Doodles.  He is currently Artist-in-Residence at The Kennedy Center and invites kids into his studio every day to draw together.

--  Our very own Mrs. Edwards reads Swimmy by Leo Lionni AND demonstrates a thumbprint Caldecott project that you can do along with her!
