Negotiations Update: June 15, 2021
On Tuesday, June 15, Glendale Unified school and district leaders met with members of the Glendale Teachers Association (GTA) bargaining team. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to a side letter of agreement for child care employees and continued discussions about compensation for summer school programs and summer professional development.
In the side letter of agreement for child care employees, GTA agreed to adjust schedules for afternoon student programming. Glendale Unified agreed to provide additional compensation for child care employees who are required to supervise students beyond the regular schedule at their hourly rate of pay.
GTA continues to propose an increase in wages for summer school positions to $120 per hour, a 63-124% increase from the current negotiated salary range. Glendale Unified will submit a counter proposal. In the meantime, the District will continue to compensate summer school employees at the negotiated salary range of $53.67 - $73.79 per hour.
The two sides discussed compensation for employees attending, as well as preparing and presenting at, professional development sessions. Glendale Unified will submit a counter proposal to GTA’s proposed compensation.
