Glendale Unified Facilitates COVID-19 Vaccines for Graduating Seniors

GLENDALE, CA – Glendale Unified School District is partnering with local healthcare providers to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination appointments for every high school senior and two eligible household members who want to be vaccinated beginning on Friday, April 16.

Glendale Unified previously facilitated vaccination appointments for all 2,600 of the District’s employees who wanted to be vaccinated the first week in March, and hosted a vaccination clinic on March 13 for employees’ eligible household members. Glendale Unified secondary students wishing to participate in hybrid learning will return to campuses beginning April 26. Los Angeles County Public Health guidelines allow for in-person graduation ceremonies this spring.

“Glendale Unified has been a leader in facilitating vaccinations for our employees and their families in order to add an additional layer of safety for return to in-person learning this spring,” said Glendale Unified Board of Education President Dr. Armina Gharpetian. “As we prepare for graduations and in-person school activities, we are thrilled to expand the opportunity for vaccination to our graduating seniors and their families who wish to receive them as they celebrate this important milestone.”

“We are incredibly grateful to our local healthcare partners who have generously committed their time and energy to help us facilitate vaccination appointments for our employees, families, and now our graduating seniors,” said Glendale Unified Superintendent Dr. Vivian Ekchian. “The opportunity for vaccination is essential to supporting our seniors as they complete high school, safely celebrate their accomplishments, and prepare for success in college, career, and life.”
