First Day of School for the 2019-20 School Year!
Dear Fremont Families,
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I'm looking forward to another exciting and successful year. Our theme this year is BETTER TOGETHER. Fremont is a special place where staff, families and community members work together to create an exceptional and safe learning environment for our students. This year, we will focus on celebrating and enhancing that collaboration.
We will also be implementing the PBIS (Positive Based Interventions and Supports) Framework, a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviors to creaste a positive school environment. The goal of PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm and where Fremont Bears are always Respectful, Responsible and Safe.
Our commitment to having a safe campus continues to be of utmost importance. Fremont is a closed campus during school hours. After the first day of school, volunteers/visitors must be scheduled and must enter through the front office, sign in and wear a volunteer/visitor identification sticker. Volunteers must have TB clearance and will also be asked to read and sign the Volunteer Confidentiality and Expectations Affidavit.
Only on the first day of school, parents may walk into school with their children and line up with them. Lines will be labeled, so you will know where to go. Class lists will be posted on the fence by 7 AM on August 21st. After the first day of school, we will have upper grade "Kinder Buddies" to help walk younger students to their lines, as needed.
Communication between home and school is vital for student success and safety. Please make sure all of your contact information is up to date. I send home a Sunday Night Message each week (phone call and email) that has important information about school related matters and activities. Our school website is also a good source of current information including school calendar and different ways to be involved and contribute to the school community.
Please make sure that your children are in school on time each day ready to learn with all of the materials they need for the day inlcuding homework/projects, instruments, jackets, lunches, water bottles, etc. Classroom instruction will not be interrupted to relay messages to students regarding forgotten items or pick-up plans.
Kindergarten students are to be in line before 8 AM and 1st-6th grade students need to be in line before 8:05 AM (instruction begins at 8:10 AM - meaning students are in their seats ready to learn). The gates on Las Palmas Avenue and Paloma Avenue will close promptly at 8:05 AM. Students arriving after 8:05 AM will need to come through the office to get a tardy slip. Please make sure to read and adhere to the Fremont Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures.
I look forward to seeing you!
