Message from Principal Jay

Hi Everybody.  This is Principal Jay.

I believe by now everyone has received a message from Superintendent Ekchian regarding the change in our student attendance schedule for the next few weeks.  To reiterate, Glendale Unified School District, under the recommendation from the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools  has extended Spring Break for students through March 27 and will then begin off campus remote enrichment activities through April 3.  This means that your students will not attend school during this time.  At this time, we expect that classes will resume on Monday, April 6, 2020. We will reassess the situation in the coming weeks and determine if an extended remote learning model will be necessary.

During this time, our events including Student of the Month and Open House are postponed.  At this time, we are not sure whether other meetings, including IEP meetings will be held or postponed.  I will be working closely with District leadership to make those decisions and I will update you.

When teachers return to work on March 23, we will be working to develop ways to assist our students in accessing learning just as all teachers will be working to extend learning outside of the classroom.  We all know that our students' learning needs require special consideration and we will work together with our collaborative teams as we always do to get these activities ready for the week of March 30.

We know that this is unprecedented and a somewhat unsettling to say the least.  Please keep your family safe and healthy during this time.   I will update you when we have more information.  If you want to access the latest information from the District please log on the website at GUSD.net.  There is a lot of good information and resources there and translation if you need it also.  So I encourage you to connect if you can.

Hang in there everyone and thank you.
