First Day of School Information

Dear Valley View Families, this is Dr. Reynolds. I hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer break. I look forward to seeing you soon. TK and Kindergarten tea is Tuesday, August 20 at 8:30 am. Please come a little early due to parking. This is a time for you and your child to meet their teacher and see where their classroom will be. You will meet in the classroom for the first 15 minutes and then go to the multipurpose room where the teachers will give you some important information about the first day of school.

Speaking of the first day of school, we are going to CELEBRATE on Wednesday August 21. Gates will open at 8:00 and students line up on the blacktop at 8:12. All students and parents need to enter school from the stairs located on Orange Avenue. On the first day only, parents are welcome to follow the class lines to the classroom doors and say goodbye as students enter into the classrooms. Parents are encouraged to join us at that time in the multipurpose room/auditorium for our Howdy Coffee. This is a great opportunity to meet other parents, get information from our PTA and Foundation and ask any questions you might have.

Thursday, parents may accompany their child to their classroom line on the blacktop and say goodbye as the classes walk to their classrooms. And Friday, we will start locking down the campus and only children may use the stairs.

Saturday, August 17 student class assignments will be available to view on Parent Portal. If you have not downloaded the GUSD app yet, I highly recommend it. Parent Portal, Lunch menus, and Peach Jar and more can be accessed from the app. If you have issues logging into Parent Portal, please call our office for assistance.

That’s all for now, I hope you enjoy the last few days of summer and I am excited to see you soon.
