Dear Elementary Families,

We are very pleased to report that yesterday Los Angeles County reached the threshold to reopen schools after being at an adjusted COVID-19 case rate of 25 cases per 100,000 for the past five days. Glendale Unified has met all required health and safety criteria and is preparing to welcome students back for in-person learning with a hybrid schedule as soon as possible, beginning with our youngest students in grades TK-2 and expanding to upper elementary grades.

We have included additional details about our on-campus hybrid instructional schedule below. We ask that all elementary families submit a Return to School Commitment Form by this Sunday, February 21, in order to help us prepare.

Complete Our Spring 2021 Commitment Form

Information for Families Wishing to Return for On-Campus Instruction

In order to maintain proper physical distancing, Glendale Unified elementary schools will operate on a hybrid schedule. Students will attend school on campus either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday and continue distance learning the rest of the week. All students will participate in distance learning on Wednesdays to allow time for adequate cleaning between the Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday cohorts. We will do our best to give students who are members of the same household the same schedule.

Important Note: Students who choose to attend school on campus must adhere to all health and safety protocols, including wearing a facemask and practicing physical distancing at all times.

Information for Families Wishing to Continue Distance Learning

A distance learning option will continue to be available for all students for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Students will continue to receive instruction from their teacher on the same schedule as they did in the fall. Students who are distance learning will participate in a live stream with their teacher in the classroom.

Important note: In order to maintain our cohorts and protect the health and safety of students and employees, students who choose to continue distance learning this spring will not have an option to transition to on-campus instruction before the end of the 2020-21 school year.

We will continue to keep you updated on our return to school plans, including preparations being made at all schools to safely return students and teachers to campus. Please remember to submit your Return to School Commitment Form by this Sunday, February 21. If you have any questions, please contact your school office.

Sincerely,
