First of all, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came together in response to the La Tuna Fire:
Our first responders who worked tirelessly to successfully keep our community safe
Our community members who showed such generosity with donations of water and supplies to the Evacuation Center
Our Crescenta Valley High School staff for showing such wonderful hospitality to the community members evacuated from their homes;
Our incredibly dedicated Facility and Nutritional Services staff members who worked through the weekend to take care of first responders and community members
There is a strong possibility that air quality may still be compromised when students return to school on Tuesday. Our Facilities and Support Operations staff are inspecting the schools closest to the fire to clean and run the air conditioners and ultimately ensure that the units are in working condition. Until air quality returns to normal our District staff will check regularly with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and communicate how the current air quality may affect the safety of outdoor activities.
Thank you again to everyone who came together to support those who were impacted by the La Tuna Fire. This is truly a great community!
