Glendale Unified Dual Language Immersion and Magnet Programs
Now Enrolling for the 2020-21 School Year


GLENDALE, CA – The lottery application period for Glendale Unified Foreign Language Academies of Glendale (FLAG) dual immersion programs and magnet schools opened Friday, November 1. All students living in- and outside Glendale Unified boundaries are invited to complete a lottery application by visiting www.gusdmagnetandflag.com. Lottery applications must be submitted by January 31, 2020. Students are selected for magnet and FLAG programs each year by a random lottery, which will take place on February 12.


About Glendale Unified’s FLAG Dual Immersion Program

The Foreign Language Academies of Glendale (FLAG) program offers dual language immersion programs in seven languages beginning in kindergarten: Armenian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Dual Immersion classes are taught by fully credentialed, bilingual teachers who have additional preparation and expertise teaching in both English and their target language. Magnet Schools offer students unique, theme based educational experiences in academically rich and culturally diverse environments. Glendale Unified offers four magnet elementary schools (details below). Beginning with the 2020-21 school year, Roosevelt Middle School will transition to a magnet school focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).   • Roosevelt STEAM Academy Middle School – emphasis on STEAM (FLAG German and Spanish continuation programs available)
