Glendale Unified Will Return Elementary Students for On-Campus Instruction Beginning March 29
On Tuesday, the Glendale Unified Board of Education gave direction for District leaders to move forward with their proposed plan for a phased return of elementary students for on-campus instruction in late March. Elementary teachers will return to campus on Tuesday, March 23, following the District’s spring break holiday. Students in transitional kindergarten through second grade will resume in-person learning on Monday, March 29, and elementary students in grades three through six will resume in-person learning on Monday, April 5.

As of Friday, March 5, Glendale Unified has facilitated vaccine appointments for all 2,600 of the District’s employees who want to be vaccinated, including teachers, classified staff, school and district administrators, athletic coaches, and classroom assistants.

On Wednesday, March 3, Glendale Unified school and district leaders met with members of the Glendale Teachers Association (GTA) bargaining team to discuss a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the careful and deliberate return of elementary students, based on current Public Health guidelines. At the March 3 meeting, GTA presented a counter-proposal to the District’s initial MOU from February 19. The District prepared and provided an immediate response.

Glendale Unified Facilitating Voluntary COVID-19 Vaccines for Teachers and Staff Prior to Reopening Schools
