Working Group to Ensure Culturally Relevant and Responsive Education

Glendale Unified School District has convened a working group, made up of students, teachers, school and district administrators and staff, parents/guardians, and community members, focused on providing culturally relevant and responsive education for all students.
The CREE Working Group includes multiple committees focused on five key areas. A meeting schedule for our various commmittees is included below. Working Group members are welcome to participate on multiple committees. For more information, please contact the staff lead for each focus area.
CRRE Working Group Focus Areas
- Eliminating bias in curricula and educational materials
Staff Leads: Dr. Chris Coulter and Sally Myles - Actively recruiting a more diverse workforce and providing professional development to ensure culturally competent, anti-biased leadership
Staff Lead: Dr. Darneika Watson and Zepure Hacopian - Analyzing student discipline data and continuing the use of Restorative Practices to build community, strengthen school culture, and repair relationships
Dr. Mary Mason, Dr. Deb Rinder, Dr. Stepan Mekhitarian, and Craig Lewis - Engaging students and families to proactively develop inclusive school communities
Dr. Narineh Hakopian, Kristine Nam, and Hibah Samad - Connecting with community partners to support this work and provide culturally relevant educational opportunities for students
