Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Donella Coram (formerly Daggett-Buchanan)
This is my third year at Mountain Avenue and fourth year in the GUSD Family. This will be in my sixth year as a Special Education teacher. I look forward to getting to know you and your child this school year.
I am passionate about helping students with a diverse range of needs attain higher levels of school success. I often start by building on existing strengths in order to promote efficacy in daily academic routines. I particularly enjoy working with children and I find myself drawn to the array of personalities and challenges of this diverse student community. I also value the opportunity to collaborate with parents and teachers as we “bridge the gap” between home and school life.
Making data-driven decisions surrounding instruction, utilizing multi-sensory teaching methods to support individual learning needs, and accommodating for the linguistic and cultural differences of students helps them thrive.
Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Information
Your child has support provided to them by a diverse support team. I will be collaborating with your child’s classroom teacher; service providers (if that applies) and campus staff and look forward to seeing your child to thrive this school year. Each student with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) will have an annual meeting before the meeting date that was held last year. Don’t worry; I will be contacting you to schedule your IEP meeting. Any educational concerns, questions or support is why I am here, so please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding your child’s progress this year.
