    Summer School 2021

      

    Dates: June 14 – July 16, 2021

      

    Five days each week for five weeks:

       Semester 1: June 14 – June 29, 2021

    Semester 2: June 30 – July 16, 2021 

    (Monday, July 5th is a holiday/no school).

     

    In-Person Summer School Schedule: 8:00 am to 1:15 pm

    Students Last Name A-L enter through Main Gate on Broadway.

    Students Last Name M-Z enter through Main Parking Lot between the Cafeteria & 2000 bldg. 

     

    8:00 - 10:25 Period 1

    10:25 - 10:45 Snack

    10:50 - 1:15 Period 2

      

    Distance Learning Summer School Schedule:  8:00 am to 1:15 pm

     

    8:00 to 9:15 (Whole Class Synchronous)

    9:15 to 10:25 (Asynchronous and small groups)

    10:25 - 10:50 (break)

    10:50 - 11:40 (Whole class Synchronous)

    11:40 - 12:45 (Collaborative/group work)

    12:45 - 1:15 (Formative assessment and closing)

    In-Person Students (Semester 2)

     

    If your student is scheduled to take a summer school class In-Person at Glendale High School the class can be viewed in the parent (parent.gusd.net) and student portal (student.gusd.net) under summer school. The room number will be visible and you should report to class by 8:00am on Wednesday, June 30th. 

    Second semester of summer school will begin on Wednesday, June 30th and will end on Friday, July 16th. Your student’s course will begin at 8:00am and end at 1:15pm (with 1 break).  This class can be viewed in the parent (parent.gusd.net) and student portal (student.gusd.net) under summer school. The room number will be visible and they should report by 8:00am. All room numbers and teacher emails are available on our website under the Teacher Contacts tab: https://www.gusd.net/Page/14998.

    All students attending Glendale High Summer In-Person will be required to wear a face mask while in class or walking around campus. Students will only be allowed to remove their face masks when they are actively eating or drinking.  All students/parents will receive a RUVNA email/text message to conduct the screening and will get a QR code that must be scanned when they get their temperature checked on campus. 

    -Students with the last name A-L will enter from the main entrance

    -Students with the last name M-Z will enter from the main parking lot entrance between the 2000 building and cafeteria.

     

    Please know that all students must use their gusd student email account as important information will be shared with them via email. Please contact Karin Bashian if you need assistance with your child’s district email at kbashian@gusd.net

    If your student was provided a chromebook or a hotspot by GUSD, you will be permitted to keep those items to help your student access the summer school curriculum. If you do not have one or if you had to return yours, you can pick one up from the GUSD District Office any day between 8:00am and 3:30pm.

    If your student is not compliant per the Los Angeles County requirements for immunizations (not including the COVID-19 vaccine) your child will still be able to attend in-person but you need to follow up with your physician or pediatrician to complete their vaccinations before the fall. Our health clerk or school nurse contacted the families who fall within this category.

     


    Distance Learning Students (Semester 2)

     

    If your student is scheduled to take a summer school class via Distance Learning at Glendale High School the class can be viewed in the parent (parent.gusd.net) and student portal (student.gusd.net) under summer school. 

     

    Second semester of summer school will begin on Wednesday, June 30th and will end on Friday, July 16th. Your student’s course will begin at 8:00am and end at 1:15pm (with 1 break). You will get an email with your student’s Google Classroom Information the week before summer school. You will get an invite to the Google Classroom within the next 48 hours.     APEX Classes

     

    If your child is scheduled to take an APEX class during the afternoon portion of the day from 1:30-3:55pm it will be done via Distance Learning ONLY. All students will leave campus concluding the end of period 2 at 1:15pm if they are In-Person or sign on from home at 1:30 if they are Distance Learning. You will get more information about APEX from your child’s APEX teacher and in invitation to their Google Classroom the week before summer school begins.
