Dear Glendale Unified Students, Employees, Families, and Community:

Welcome back to another amazing year in Glendale Unified School District! I am excited to begin my first school year as your Superintendent. Our administrators, teachers, and staff have been hard at work getting our schools ready and planning a first day celebration our students will remember.

Our mission is to provide our youth with endless pathways to achieve their aspirational goals, from the day they enter kindergarten until they collect their high school diplomas. I believe that education is what levels the playing field for all; it is the foundation for success in college, career, and life.

On Wednesday, we will welcome 26,000 students back to school; including 2,000 transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students who are just beginning their educational journey with us. We have so much to be proud of this year! Among many other accomplishments, students from our first FLAG French dual immersion class are promoting to middle school. We are launching our Early College Academy at Hoover High School in partnership with Glendale Community College. Roosevelt Middle School is preparing to become a STEAM magnet next year by expanding coding and computer science curriculum for all students. Crescenta Valley High School is opening a new sports medicine building funded by our Career and Technical Education Incentive grant. We are updating and breaking ground on new facilities at schools across our district, supported by our Measure S bond.

I want to affirm once again Glendale Unified’s commitment to providing a safe and inspiring learning environment for every student. Diversity is our strength and every child is welcome in our schools. Together we will celebrate diversity and focus on equity in order to accelerate student outcomes.

I will be visiting campuses frequently throughout the school year. I look forward to learning from all students, employees, and family members in our Glendale Unified community.

We are excelling together to prepare our students for success!
