Unified Champion School (Inclusion)
-
Special Olympics of Southern California has welcomed Roosevelt Middle School as a Unified Champion School. Roosevelt believes in a fully-inclusive environment that values the abilities of all students. In addition to placing students in the least restrictive environment in the classroom, the Roosevelt community also creates activities to promote inclusion on the campus and in the community.
Examples of this include the hosting of the Elementary School Games for Special Olympics. Here students from around GUSD come to compete for their school.
Roosevelt students serve as fans in the stands and buddies for these awesome events.
On campus, Roosevelt believes in fully inclusive competition as well. Below, you can see students from their inclusive kickball game.
