As part of the Teaching and Learning team, my goal is to support teachers and school staff with all aspects of professional learning.  I began teaching in 1995 in LAUSD, moving to Balboa School in the Glendale district in 1997.  At Balboa, I taught a fourth/fifth grade combination, fourth grade, and kindergarten.  I left Balboa School in 2003 to care for my newborn twins, returning to teaching in 2007 at the elementary and middle school level.

After 20 years of teaching, I began my work in professional development as an academic coach in the Garvey School District.  During that time, I worked to coordinate the evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.  I enjoyed facilitating PLC meetings and providing professional development for teachers weekly.  A large part of my work was focused on improving integrated ELD instruction to serve the English learner population.

As an elementary teacher specialist on the Teaching and Learning team, I look forward to providing instructional support and professional development to school sites in our district. My areas of specialty are:

  • ELA/ELD Common Core Standards
  • Designated and Integrated ELD
  • Balanced Literacy
  • Close Reading
  • Collaborative Learning and Student Engagement
  • Professional Learning Communities
  • Academic Coaching
