School Age Expanded Learning | Grades TK-6

  • The GUSD School Age Expanded Learning program offers enrichment and resources to augment classroom learning for students in grades TK-6. The program is open to all students attending GUSD elementary schools. Students' daily routines include homework time, indoor and outdoor activities such as sports and recreation, arts and crafts, science and technology, literacy and numeracy, music, and theme-based projects. The program incorporates grade-level academic standards in a student-centered, stimulating environment that meets the individual needs, interests, and differences of each student.

    • Fee-based and subsidized spaces are available
    • Spaces are limited

    Program hours are 6:30 a.m. until school begins and from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m.  

    In addition, camp programs are available from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during, fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks.

    Self-supporting spaces are located at the following schools: Balboa, Cerritos, Columbus, Dunsmore, Edison, Franklin, Fremont, Glenoaks, Jefferson, Keppel, La Crescenta, Lincoln, Mann, Marshall, Monte Vista, Mountian Ave., Muir, Valley View, Verdugo Woodlands, R.D. White.

    Self-Supporting Program Fees, Effective 7/1/19 

    Hours of Care Daily Rate
    Under 4 hours of care $26.50
    4-6.5 hours of care $35.98
    6.5-10.5 hours of care $47.98

     

    Subsidized Spaces for Income-Eligible Students

    Subsidized spaces are located at the following schools: Balboa, Cerritos, Columbus, Edison, Franklin, Fremont, Jefferson, Keppel, La Crescenta, Lincoln, Mann, Marshall, Muir, Valley View, Verdugo Woodlands, and R.D. White.

    Eligibility Requirements for Subsidized Services: 

    • Families must be income-eligible
    • Both parents/adults in household must be working or in a vocational training program
    • Fees vary according to family size and income
