Hello, it is hard for me to believe, but I have been teaching here at Hoover 35 years. Time flies when you are having fun. I am currently teaching Human Geography and World History. I have taught many different classes here at Hoover, including: Marching Band, Music Technology, Guitar, Music Appreciation, World History, Human Geography, U.S. History, Government, Business Technology, and Guidance.
I set high standards and expect all students to meet these standards. I engage them by making learning fun and meaningful. Together we develop critical thinking, self-awareness, goal setting, self-management and social responsibility. I tap into their life experience and feelings to help students relate to the material and apply it to their lives. I help my students to become more aware of their goals and to pay attention to making the most out of every moment. Finally, and most importantly, they learn how to be better people everyday by keeping a quiet mind and an open heart.
Students learn the value of working hard each day to master the skills needed to become Life Champions
who strive to be:
* Self-Directed Lifelong Learners
* Effective Communicators
* Responsible Citizens
These skills are the keys to building a life with less stress and a life filled with success and happiness.
I am very excited about being the site administrator for an wonderful after school contemporary music program that has just begun here at Hoover High called The Music Path. It is spearheaded by Mitch Zelezny and Robbie Krieger (guitarist for the legendary rock group, The Doors). The program is designed to help students of all music levels have an opportunity each week to work with state of the art music equipment; to produce and perform their own original music, make a lot of new friends and have a lot of fun along the way.
I have been happily married for 35 years with 2 daughters. My oldest daughter completed her Bachelor's Degree at Denver University and received her Master's Degree from Columbia University in New York. My youngest daughter completed her Bachelor's Degree at Santa Clara University and just received her Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. In my free time you will find me playing basketball, singing along with my guitar (or ukelele), performing, composing music, writing, and enjoying whomever I am with or whatever I am doing.
