• Welcome to Distance Learning and the 2020-2021 school year!

Students must come to the regularly scheduled Google Meet or Zoom class sessions every day and stay in the session to be considered present.

Students will find the link for the Google Meet session in their Google Classrooms (GCs).

Students must check their GC Stream and Classwork pages every morning and follow the teacher's directions. Students must join the Google Meet class session with their camera ON and their microphone off at the exact time their class period starts.

If students encounter any difficulties logging in to a "live" class meeting using Google Meet or Zoom, they must go back to the original link and join again.

    • If students get kicked out of a virtual class meeting, they must close out the Google Meet or Zoom window/tab and start again from the original link.
    • If students get kicked out of a Breakout Room in the Meet/Zoom class session, they must close out the Meet/Zoom window and start again from the original link.
    • If students get stuck in the Waiting Room of a Zoom meeting for more than 1-2 minutes,  they should never just keep pressing the button to join again repeatedly. They must close out the Zoom window and start again from the original link.
    • If students get kicked out of a Google Meet, they must go back to the original link on the GC Stream page header/banner.
    • Everyone must be polite, kind, and patient during all Google Meet/Zoom sessions.
    • All students must raise their hand or type ttt in the Google Meet chat to ask permission to speak. When the teacher calls on a student, they must unmute the mic to speak.

Google Meet/Zoom sessions are a good way for students to practice their Listening and Speaking Skills, which are so important for good communication. They should unmute their mic and respond to teachers with their voices when called upon to do so.

If students are going to be absent for any reason, their parents must call the school attendance office to excuse their absence. The school number is (818) 244-8414.  It is helpful to also send an email to the teachers, so they know what to expect.

I'm including all my contact information and office hours below.  Please know that I am happy to be of service if I can, but I always appreciate those parents and students who make every effort to check all existing resources, schedules, calendars, and information on the GUSD website, the Toll website, and my web pages before emailing me.  In that way, I will be able to respond more readily to emails of a more pressing nature.
