About Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten program that uses a modified Kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate.
TK serves a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children turning 5 years old on or between September 2 and December 2.
A child who participates in TK must complete the second year of the program in Kindergarten before attending first grade.If you would like to get more information regarding TK, please contact us at (818) 241-3111, ext. 1283.
TK Locations
TK is not offered at all GUSD elementary schools. For the 2019-20 school year, TK is offered at the following GUSD schools (see the map below for locations):-

Students will enroll for TK at their home school. If their home school does not offer TK the student will be assigned to a school with a TK class. Students will return to their home school for kindergarten. Please contact Student Support Services for more information. You can locate your home school here.
