About Our PTA

Did you know that our school and our PTA unit celebrated their centennial milestone in 2015? PTA is solely run by volunteers - as parents and teachers, we all share the common goal of providing the best possible education for our kids.
PTA is a national organization that promotes parent / family engagement and advocates for the education, health, safety, and well-being of all children. Its mission is to positively impact the lives of all children and families. At R.D. White, we accomplish these goals by supporting a range of events and activities that directly benefit our students. PTA-sponsored programs include:

    • Educational Assemblies for Every Grade
    • Mustang Valet
    • Safe Routes to School / Walking School Bus
    • School Website
    • Monthly School Newsletter
    • Room Parent Program
    • Peaceful Playgrounds
    • Spring Book Fair
    • Math Night and Science Fair
    • Red Ribbon Week
    • National Reflections Art Program
    • Food and Toy Drives
    • Other special events, such as Skate Night, Movie Night, etc.

    Membership is key!
We invite you to join our PTA. Parents, family members, and friends can become a PTA member for $10 per person. Your membership fee supports the PTA program itself, enabling us to provide the enrichment programs listed above. Being a member does not obligate you to volunteer your time. We hold all-member Association Meetings several times a year to keep members apprised of our planning and fundraising activities. Attendance at these meetings is encouraged, but voluntary. Most importantly, your membership provides strength in numbers—you become a member of the nation's largest and most powerful children's advocacy association. PTA membership also gives you access to great resources. Visit Glendale Council PTA www.glendalepta.org, 1st District PTA www.pta1.org, California State PTA www.capta.org, and National PTA www.pta.org for great tips on helping your children succeed in school, to get updates on state and federal education policies and action plans, or to read about community / education / health issues. You can also check the websites for special PTA member discounts and perks!
Research has proven that students achieve higher grades, have better attendance, and more consistently complete homework when parents are involved. And, joining PTA is a great way to get involved and to meet other active parents!
