GUSD Child Development and Child Care Department (CDCC) provides high quality preschool, and before and after-school care. Our programs provide academic enrichment, snack, and physical activities to children in the Glendale, La Crescenta, and Montrose communities. We offer preschool programs for children ages three and four, and multiple before and after-school programs for students in grades TK-8. Please contact our offices at (818) 247-0775 for further information. The CDCC department focuses on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). SEL is the “process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions” (casel.org, 2017). The department emphasizes project based learning through hands-on activities that integrate SEL, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and provide ongoing opportunities for children to expand their creativity and critical thinking skills.
