• logoGreen Ninja materials are designed around the NGSS, and they take to heart the notion that presenting students with opportunities to work on real-world problems can promote science learning and student engagement. The heart of the curriculum is helping to make science fun and interesting for students. Student motivation is a critical component of learning, and their goal is to help teachers make their classes engaging for students.

The theme for Grade 6 is Climate: Scientific Principles and Communication. Students study the Earth’s climate and solutions to climate change using life science, physical science, earth science, and engineering design. Students will strengthen their science and engineering practices, crosscutting concepts, and apply specific disciplinary core ideas to help them develop their own solutions to a variety of environmental problems.

The culminating experience in each unit is designed to help frame student learning around a particular goal with a focus on using different techniques to communicate the science outcomes. By offering students the opportunity to solve real-world problems that are relevant to them and their community, the curriculum aims to inspire students’ interest in developing their science and engineering skills.

Students are expected to attend all class Zoom meetings.  Links will be posted on Google Classroom each day.  Students need to log in using their Toll Chromebook so that their presence and attendance can be verified.  On regular days, classes are 80 minutes.  On the Wednesdays that have been designated as minimum days, classes are 50 minutes.   I do not anticipate holding students for the entire allotted time.  We will work together until such a time as students have shown they are ready to take their instruction and proceed to working individually on their assignments.
