Letter from the Principal

  • Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 school year at Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School! We are celebrating our 94th year of providing an excellent learning experience for our students and are proud of our school community and the collaboration between our parents, students, and staff. We look forward to working with you! We will begin this year with Remote Learning due to recommendations from the state and local health authorities concerning COVID-19.

We are very excited about the new school year and all of the wonderful possibilities it has to offer! The first day of school is Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Please be on the lookout for an email from your child’ teacher. You will know it is from a district employee if the email ends with @GUSD.net. The email from your teacher will include detailed instructions for you and your child.

We want to promote positive communication between home and school to inform you of Verdugo Woodlands’ many programs, and to keep you informed about your child’s progress. Every Thursday and Sunday you will receive an email from Verdugo Woodlands with flyers and information on what is new for Verdugo Woodlands and around our community. These flyers, as well as District flyers are also available on Peachjar at www.verdugowoodlands.org . If you do not receive school emails we may not
have a current email address on file for you. Please make sure to update your email address as necessary on the GUSD Parent Portal.

Finally, if for some reason your plans have changed and your child will NOT be attending Verdugo Woodlands, please contact our school office on August 17, 2020 at (818) 241-2433.

I look forward to a great year with you!

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Kristina Provost, Principal
