7th Grade Foods

  • In 7th grade, students have the opportunity to sign up for Foods 7 as a semester long elective.  In this class, students will learn the basics of food preparation, so they will be able to cook food for themselves and their families.  The following topics are taught throughout the semester:

    • safety and sanitation
    • measuring
    • cutting skills
    • reading recipes
    • food garnishing
    • nutrition
      • fruits
      • vegetables
      • grains
      • protein
      • dairy
    • small appliances

Students work individually and in groups throughout the semester.  They watch demonstrations and participate in hands on experiences.

Due to the cost of this program, we are asking for a suggested donation of $10.00 to help supplement the Family & Consumer Science Department’s budget for food supplies.  We could also use donations of cleaning supplies like dish soap, antibacterial wipes, laundry detergent, etc.

This donation will enable the students to prepare recipes during their time in the class.  This suggested amount, or any amount you could contribute, would greatly assist our program.
