Building Exchange

  • GUSD recently faced a critical choice: the district must retrofit and upgrade our existing 45-year-old building to current code, update the mechanical/ electrical/plumbing systems, add parking, add a professional development center at a taxpayer cost of over $40 million or agree to a building exchange wherein GUSD can be housed in a newer and much larger building located at 425 E. Colorado Blvd. The GUSD Board of Education voted unanimously to enter into this building exchange agreement with Carmel Partners, who plan to construct an apartment building in place of the existing GUSD building.
