On March 16, 2017, the GUSD community celebrated the grand opening of the latest classroom building built using Measure S funds with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Balboa Elementary School campus.
The 25th annual Principal for A Day in the Glendale Unified School District will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 and has attracted 30 business and community leaders. The Glendale Educational Foundation is sponsoring the event.
On September 7, 2016, the Los Angeles County Committee on School District Organization officially accepted a petition requesting transfer of the Sagebrush territory from Glendale USD to La Cañada USD. The petition was submitted by UniteLCF.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the new classroom arts building at Hoover High School will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 5 P.M., at Hoover High School, 651 Glenwood Road, Glendale, CA 91202.
On August 4, 2016, Glendale Unified School District successfully sold its $70 million General Obligation Bonds, Election of 2011, Series C. The Bonds were issued as part of the $270 million Measure S bond measure approved by voters in 2011.
Glendale Unified School District is currently soliciting applications to fill five (5) open seats on the Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC). The Committee must have a minimum of seven (7) members appointed by the Board of Education of the Glendale Unified School District. It is a two-year commitment. The Committee meets quarterly.
