2001-2002 Board of Education Priorities

The improvement of student achievement and the maintenance of a safe learning environment are the two major priorities which the Board establishes each year. These priorities recognize that improvement of student achievement is a comprehensive K-12 effort which encompasses all student groups and subject areas, and that the establishment of a safe, orderly learning environment is critical to student success. To continue progress toward achievement of these two priorities, the Board establishes the following specific priorities for the 2001-2002 school year.

  • 1. Increase the number of students at or above grade level.
  • 2. Align the District's written, taught, and tested curriculum with State standards and the District's K-12 learning expectancies.
  • 3. Improve the quality of teaching through evaluation, professional development, and employment practices which are aligned to the District's teaching standards.
  • 4. Effective and efficient implementation of the Measure K "Building for Excellence" program.
  • 5. Strengthen positive adult connections for each individual student.
  • 6. Strengthen the level of support from parents, staff, community members and legislators to accomplish District goals.
